This has been one of my favorite destinations of all times. Not only because it’s one of the magnificent wonders of the world, but also because of how rich in history and culture it is.
To start your day, you must see the actual pyramids, lol. There’s actually a bunch of pyramids all over the area, but the three main (and biggest) ones are a must see!
The Great Pyramid of Khufu: Standing tall as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid of Khufu is an awe-inspiring sight to behold. Built over 4,500 years ago, it was the tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years. Marvel at its grandeur and imagine the incredible engineering feats of the ancient Egyptians.
The Pyramid of Khafre: Adjacent to the Great Pyramid, you’ll find the Pyramid of Khafre. Although slightly smaller, it still showcases the remarkable craftsmanship of the ancient Egyptians. Don’t forget to capture the perfect photo with the iconic Sphinx as your backdrop.
The Pyramid of Menkaure: Completing the trio of pyramids at Giza is the Pyramid of Menkaure. Although smaller in size, it is no less impressive. Take a moment to appreciate the intricate details and the rich history that surrounds this ancient structure.
Once you’ve marveled at the pyramids from the outside, it’s time to venture inside. Take a guided tour to discover the hidden chambers, corridors, and the fascinating stories that lie within. Be prepared to be amazed by the ancient artifacts and hieroglyphics that adorn the walls.

You could spot a camel carriage or an actual camel roaming around the pyramids. For a small fee, you can ride the carriage for a tour around all the smaller pyramids and ruin sites, or you can actually ride a camel and get your picture taken! I was so scared to get on the camel but my mom wasn’t. Looking back, I wish I had done it. SO DO IT!!!

Located near the Great Pyramid, the Solar Boat Museum houses the reconstructed solar boat of Khufu. This ancient vessel was buried alongside the pharaoh to accompany him on his journey to the afterlife. Step back in time as you admire this remarkable piece of history.
End your visit with a mesmerizing sound and light show that brings the pyramids to life. Watch in awe as the pyramids are illuminated against the night sky, while a narrated story takes you on a captivating journey through ancient Egyptian history.
Don’t forget to pack sunscreen (if visiting in the summer), and carrying a fanny pack or a crossbody was a great idea for safety reasons. I would also recommend taking a lot of water with you and a hat because that heat is no joke. There’s a bunch of stands for souvenirs so bring some cash for a little shopping and tips!
Getting to the Pyramids is easy via taxis. They drop you off at the entrance and you can get a taxi back from there too! Inside the pyramid area is free for walking around, but I highly recommend booking one of the camel tours for a real Egyptian experience!
The Pyramids of Giza are a testament to the ingenuity and legacy of the ancient Egyptians. As you stand in their presence, you can’t help but feel a sense of wonder and admiration for the people who built these incredible structures. So, pack up and head on over, it’ll be so much fun!
